Investigations revealed that the design of the curtainwall and the improper integration of the Building Maintenance Unit allowed the BMU to impact ornamental metals causing them to fall off the tower face. This became the subject of construction defect litigation.

Thin, non load bearing wall cladding, formed primarily using large glass panels and metal framing components. Â Curtainwall is supported from the edge of the building slabs or from the steel floor framing, spanning between support points, typically using adjustable anchorage clips. Generally installed on larger commercial buildings and high rise construction, with internal drainage and specialized maintenance requirements.
Investigations of curtainwall systems include the evaluation of windborn debris impact damage, construction and installation defects, glass material defects and maintenance related damage to surfaces.
