Storefront systems attach to the building structure at the head and sill and rarely span more than one story.

Individual glass panels may be subject to damage by improper maintenance, impact damage, construction incidents, welding slag, foreign material deposition, manufacturing defects, and other circumstances. Perimeter seals at the glass panel and framing interface may also be affected by these same concerns. Considerations include; specialized coatings, color matching and difficulty of replacement, among others

The construction defect investigation pictured  at the top left centered around welding slag deposition and damage to over 1200 lites of glass. This structure was listed on the National Historic Register and required special material and construction sequencing research.
